Dafna Talmor is a abstract photographer with three main schemes of work, constructed landscapes 1, constructed landscapes 2 and obstructed views. We previously attended a gallery showing her constructed landscapes 2. This work is a range of negative landscapes she took through out her life, which she would cut up and rearrange in some way, often using shots of the same place or multiple photographs from entirely different places and sometimes even country, to create a new abstract landscapes with voids of negative space and abstract colours and marks from the process. She ritualistically took landscapes whilst working on her obstructed views work in order to challenge herself as she found it hard to take photographs without the ability to adapt and create the composition as she was able to when shooting inside in a man made environment.
Dafna Talmor moved about and travelled a lot and still does, She was born in Israel then moved to Venezuela and then moved again to the UK to attend Goldsmith's University to study photography further. She also has a sister who lives in the USA, So frequently visited to States. Dafna used photography to help her move from place to place, Her camera was something she could take with her physically as well as being able to take the photograph witch she would associate to memories, places and people. This frequent change and movement to a range of places, each extremely different to one another, gave Dafna an opportunity to take Interesting and unique landscapes for further work.

Dafna's work is however not one of a kind, and is a idea which is closely linked to the Pictoralists from the 19th century. The Pictoralists would combine two photos to create pictures with equal exposure as photography of the time made it hard to take photographs with equal exposure through out, so they would take multiple photos of the same shot each focused on a separate part (For example; The sea, land and sky) and cut them and put them together.
